Frequently Asked Questions
What is your catchment area?
I work with women birthing in and around Melbourne's East, including (but not limited to) Box Hill Hospital, Angliss Hospital, Mitcham Private Hospital, and Monash Health Dandenong, Casey and Clayton. I am also a homebirth-friendly student midwife, and would love to work with you and your midwifery team if you are birthing at home.
If the hospital you are birthing at is not listed, please contact me!
Are there any reasons you wouldn't be able to attend my appointment/s or birth?
I will do my upmost to be at every appointment that you ask me to attend. Unfortunately there will be occasions that classes or exams might be prioritised by my university, however I'll always work with you to have your dates in my diary well ahead of time.Â
When it comes to your labor and birth, I will be on call for you 24/7 around the time that you are due so that I am always contactable.
What about COVID-19?
COVID-19 has thrown a spanner in the works of many, many plans in the last 18 months. Whilst ideally I'll be able to attend your appointment in person, in the case that hospital restrictions don't allow it then I'll dial in on speakerphone (on mute!), and then chat to you afterwards.
Do I have to have you at my birth?
I really hope that as we attend appointments together we will get to know each other well, and you will feel comfortable having me support you in labour. However, labour and birth is a very private and personal experience, and I will support your decisions regardless of the choice you make.
What is the cost?
Having a student midwife support you is completely free - there are no costs associated with it
Is there any paperwork for me to complete?
The first time we meet I will provide you with a consent form to read and sign. All of your information is deidentified in my records.
